Blood Test Results

I took some repeat blood and stool (FIT) tests last week, after the first round in November were completely negative.

Sadly, the FIT test has come back positive (63), so I’m now due to have a CT/Colostomy/Endscopy in two weeks time.,

However, when I took the blood tests I was told that the results would take 3 to 5 working days.

The next day, I was speaking to the nurse at the hospital over the phone.

She explicitly said that the results from the blood tests had not come in yet.

I now have a letter than was sent to my GP. It was timestamped exactly after we spoke.

However, on blood test results it had some letters, like Ferrentin followed by a =

I’m assuming that this was:

1. Just a list of the tests that were taken

2. Results that had come in normal

Rather than

3. Results that had come in abnormal

I’m assuming if the results had come in abnormal my GP would have rung me up asap (as he did when I got the FIT result), or else the letter would have specified how abnormal they were. Is this correct?

  • Hello joebloggs,

I can imagine this uncertainty is rather stressful for you! I am not sure really what this means but perhaps you could ring your GP to discuss these results? Since the letter has now been sent to the GP, I am sure your GP will be happy to explain the results in this letter to you over the phone.

Best of luck for your further tests in two weeks' time. I hope it all goes well for you!

    Best wishes,
