Biopsy of endometrial

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me,

I've had a biopsy done this morning and the consultant said she is doubtful its cancer because I'm too young (43) but will call me in the next 5-7 days so I dont have to wait for results.

I had a scan 3wks ago which measured my lining at 57mm and some kinda mass,

She didnt mention much at my appointment I tried to ask questions but she was rush rush, rush! And I wasnt aware of a biopsy either, but I thought just get it over with so I didnt have to go back again.

She spoke about hormonal medicine, I had the biopsy done, given leaflets and was told to decide today on which one and to call her receptionist! Everything was done within 40mins,

How can I decide on medcation so quickly?

Am i too young for hrt?

I dont want the coil,

Can anyone advise me on what they have decided on taking?

Thanks

  • That is so good that you will hear within such a short time. I waited over 4 weeks.

I think I would probably suggest you ring and see if you can get a telephone appointment with your GP or a nurse at your surgery to talk through the options available to you. When I got my results back (from ultrsaound/hysterscopy, biopsy, CT , MRI and the MDT meeting) they came in the form of a number of letters all in the wrong order and it was my GP who talked me through it.

I've had 2 instances of being referred now. In my early forties I had womb thickening and a polyp that filled the entire womb. Once that was removed I was fitted with a mirena coil and then another one when it was time for that one to be replaced. I had  over 10 years of no periods and no side effects.

Fast forward to my mid 50s, about 9 months after the coil was removed I started with irregular bleeding, pain and bloating. Scans showed thickened womb lining, ovarian cysts and polyps/fibroids. I've again had a mirena coil fitted as a form of HRT to help return the womb lining to normal. Still early days - I need further scans after 6 months and 12 months to know if its effective.

We are all different though and what suits one person does not suit another. I hope you manage to talk through your options with someone and good luck

  • Thank you for replying

It does look like the coil is a better option,

I will give my Gp a ring tomorrow and discuss every option,

    thanks again
