Concerned about showing symptoms of Lymphoma

Hi everyone

I am a 30 year old female who is relatively fit and healthy or so I thought

it all started in September last year where I developed a persistent cough after having covid in the May time and it has never gone away. It's always worse in the morning and at night it's quite chesty in the morning but throughout the day it's a dry cough. I pushed this under the rug for the longest time when I started to notice things gradually get worse. I developed a wheezing where it would last for up to 20 mins and I felt like my chest was super tight and it was causing me to be breathless. These come and go and seem to happen once or twice a month. I have constant itching. Itching on my hands, feet, lower legs, scalp, chest and arms ( this has been since September too) no obvious rash but I've drawn blood and made marks on my skin from the constant scratching. I get chest pains in the left side that come and go everyday. Unexplained bruising on my legs mainly my thighs. I get so tired so easily and even if I sleep through the night I wake up still just as tired. My heart sometimes feels like it's doing a triple beat which makes me feel light headed and dizzy. I have now developed a pea sized moveable hard lump on the left side of my neck. No weight loss but I haven't exactly gained weight either. I haven't had night sweats but have woken up clammy and hot previously. When I drink alcohol I get pains in my jaw and shoulder

I have been to the doctor and he gave me an inhaler which sometimes eases the tightness in my chest. He also sent me for blood tests where I had one abnormal result for high CRP which I have another appointment booked to speak to him about next week. I also went for a chest X-ray on Thursday so I'm just awaiting the results from that as it's the Easter weekend I won't know until Wednesday they said.
the waiting is really killing me and I just want to feel less alone and have someone to talk to who perhaps has been through similar or is going through it too

thank you for reading this far and I hope you are well

  • Hi Mollie93,. Just wanted to say hello and sorry to hear you're going through such a stressful time. I wish you all the best for your further tests and hope you get good news. Waiting for results is awful - so difficult to think of anything else. Hopefully someone with similar symptoms can give you some advice xxx

  • Thank you so much for your reply.
I've had my chest X-ray back and it's come back clear so I'm taking that as some kind of positive. I'm still seeing the doctor next Monday for my blood test results that came back abnormal and for the lump on my neck that's still there to see what the next steps are. Still experiencing all above symptoms so just trying to keep an open mind xx

  • That's a good start Mollie - hope any other test you have come back clear too!

  • Thank you I really hope so. I feel like I'm going insane

ive also found another lump under my jaw just under my ear this afternoon. It's hard and not moveable like the other one also hurts abit if I press on it.

  • The waiting is absolutely awful isn't it - difficult to concentrate on anything else. At least Monday not too far away now. Hope you can put it to the back of your mind for at least some of the weekend xx

  • So I've been to the doctor today regarding my abnormal CRP result and she felt my lumps in my neck and is referring me to hermotology and requesting a ultrasound be done on my neck

I am concerned about these lumps as my mum had breast cancer a few years back (she's ok now thankfully) so obviously finding lumps has made me worried.

Just got to wait for the letter to come through now

    hope everyone is well x

  • I've had my appointment come through for hematology for 2nd May it said I have been fast tracked so even though I'm pleased it seems to be going quickly I'm also abit concerned with how fast it's going too. My doctor also seemed concerned by my lump in my neck. The lump in my neck now also has swelled up more, the actual lump doesn't hurt but the surrounding area of my neck hurts and it goes down into my shoulder and lower back.

also I have found another lump in my groin on the left (same side as neck lump)

just a bundle of nerves constantly waiting for tests and results and just feel quite alone with thinking the worst

i hope everyone is doing ok if you read this

  • Hi again Mollie, it's good news that you have got your appointment through but you've had to do a lot of waiting which does shred the nerves. Hope you're not in too much discomfort with your swollen lumps. Sending you best of luck with the tests and with the lead up to them. I hope you can put them to the back of your mind even if only for a bit xx

  • Hi!

thank you so much for your response. I went for my haematology appointment yesterday she was very thorough with me which I was pleased about, my lumps are still there the one on my neck has also got a puffy swollen bit underneath it and with all of my other symptoms still being present they are sending me for a CT scan I've just got to wait for the appointment to come through she said i should be having the scan within this month. They took more bloods aswell yesterday. I feel like they are moving me quite quick because of me having this persistent symptoms since September and my family history of my mum having breast cancer and my grandad (my mums dad) having kidney cancer

i hope you are ok xx

  • Hi Mollie, glad the appointment is done now and sounds like you are in good hands with them being so thorough - not too long to wait til your next one. In the meantime, hope you are managing to enjoy the sunshine bit xx
