Impatient patient

I found a lump in my left breast a week ago and  have been extremely fatigued. I assumed it was as a result of a virus so I left it a few days but as it hadn't changed I then saw the nurse at my local doctors. She felt the lump, and said the area was warm and there was some puckering around the nipple as well. 
My mum is a breast cancer survivor and so she referred me for a mammogram. I got a call the same day and had my mammogram the next day.

I've got a follow up appointment on Monday, so less than 2 weeks since first finding it and although everything seems to be happening in slow motion, it also feels like it's all happening so quickly (I know that makes no sense!) 

I realise the second appointment will be another round of tests and a biopsy but is there anyway of them being able to tell me from the mammogram if they suspect cancer, or even from the ultrasound? I know each doctor is probably different but what will happen at and after this appointment? 

As you can imagine I'm extremely anxious and impatient.

    Hey,

    The waiting is the worst and days feel like weeks each. I don't have any suggestions as I'm currently awaiting an appointment for the breast clinic but maybe knowing you're not alone may help?

    I had breast cancer last July 

    at my appointment I asked straight out do you think it's breast cancer I was told it looked suspicious, a week later it was confirmed 

    however my friend went to a different clinic and asked and they told her that they can't tell her anything until biopsy results were in 

    so I do think as you said it varies from clinic to clinic

    Hi, I had a mammogram then an ultrasound and biopsies were taken. I asked the sonographer if she could see anything suspicious and she told me she wouldn't be taking biopsies if she didn't suspect that there was something there. She also put a marker in the area that looked suspicious. Then I saw a doctor who looked at the images and examined me. She also said the lump looked suspicious. A few days later I got a copy of the letter sent to my GP which said that the mammogram and ultrasound both indicated malignancy, not just suspicion/possibility. So it was no surprise when I went back two weeks later to be told it was cancer. So, as Lara said, different clinics have different policies. I do hope you will get good news. Try to keep busy and distracted while you wait. Saying a prayer for you. Amy xx
