Hello, I'm new here

Hi everyone, happy to have found you all.  I noticed a breast lump a few weeks ago and finally plucked up the courage to see the GP on 29th March.  She reassured me that she though it was nothing to worry about but made me an appointment there and then for the 5th April at the Breast Clinic.

Yesterday when getting dressed I found an indentation where the lump is (lower outside quadrant). I had my appt in the afternoon - a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy.  I was then examined by a DR and was given an appt there and then for the results with the surgery support team for 20th April.

The radiographer also did an ultrasound of my armpit and the DR confirmed there is no lump there.  She described my breast lump as a 2cm thickening.

Reading between the lines, I am thinking the appt on the 20th will confirm a stage 1 cancer and I'll be booked in for surgery.  Weirdly I felt a lot more confident and positive once I had LEFT the clinic because I felt they were treating me like someone who had just received very bad news even though they hadn't given me any diagnosis whatsoever or even hinted at anything, they just kept asking if I would like to speak to a specialist nurse.  Is this weird? or am I overthinking it?

Strangely I'm not really worried, I know a stage 1 is completely treatable and it must be a stage 1 at worst because of no lymph node lump. Unless the breast lump is a secondary from somewhere else in the body.

Anyway, hope this is not too much information for a first post :)

  • Hi,

I'm not much help but wanted to say I'm going through the same right now. I'm waiting for my breast clinic appointment, hopefully not too long. I found a lump a year ago but the GP wasn't worried and told me to go back if it grows. Fast forward a year and it's grew. GP thinks it's a cyst but I can't help thinking the worst.

Good luck for your results, I hope you get a positive outcome.

    Sophie xx

  • Hi tooth

sorry you feel you are getting a diagnosis

I was also told this at my first appointment that it was suspcious before it wasconfirmed a week later you sort of can tell the way the room changes ect it's like they no what's going to be the outcome

like you said if it's early stage highly treatable

my diagnosis was last July I'm back to normal live now like a fizzy bottle of pop

good luck always here go help chat

    love Lara ️

  • Thanks Sophie, from what I could tell yesterday (but I'm no expert!) if its a cyst they should be able to tell you at your ultrasound.

Hope you don't have to wait too long!

  • Hi Lara, love your expression "like a fizzy bottle of pop" made me smile.  Heartwarming to hear you are aback to normal! x

  • Hi Toottoot,

Like others and yourself, I am also in the same situation. Found a lump about 2 weeks ago, had an ultrasound and biopsy at the breast clinic. They said it is indeterminate because they couldn't really see it on the screen however could feel it. Graded as suspicious and possible cancer. They also mentioned further tests when I go back for my biopsy results. So like yourself, without saying the C word, there are strong indications it is nefarious.

Anyways, I hope for yourself it isn't something bad but if it is, it sounds like you caught it early. Hope your appointment goes well on the 20th.
