Breast abscess at 52

Hello 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed breast abscess in my right breast via blood test, hard lump, pink rash, sore. Prescribed 2 weeks course of antibiotics, I have completed the antibiotics but the lump seem grow bigger, rash still there, ache and sore.

I have made an appointment with GP tomorrow afternoon, I'm worry and the lump is constant reminder it's still there when I hugs or fold arms.

Have asked nurse 2 weeks ago with 1st diagnosis breast abscess, asked her for breast screening as I had it done in August 2020 came back clear, the nurse said no wait til antibiotics.

  • Hi ,

    Welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that the antibiotics don't seem to have helped your breast symptoms. I sincerely hope that your GP can help you out tomorrow.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi, sorry to hear the antibiotics haven't helped and you still have symptoms. When you see your GP today insist on a referral to the breast unit if one isn't offered. Ask for a second opinion if necessary. I have learned that I have to advocate for myself and ask the "stupid" questions (no such thing as a stupid question) because even the medics and admin overlook  things and make mistakes, as I have found on a number of occasions recently during my breast cancer treatment. I wish you all the best and hope you'll let us know how you get on. Hugs x
