Breast Biopsy

What a rollercoaster ride from hell...whilst I'm super impressed by the speed of checking my breast lump I'm so anxious and it feels weirdly like an out of body experience..

I noticed a breast lump approx 3 weeks ago my gp referred me straight away to hospital for Mammogram and ultrasound, I was relieved that the lump I had was a cyst phew..however a second lump was detected which looked completely different on the ultrasound she thought it would be possible a fibroadenoma...she however carry out a biopsy as well as the surrounding tissue...

First and foremost grateful that I had the second lump detected and checked..

I had a phone call this morning 4th April requesting to come in on Thursday to see the Breast consultant/Surgeon..I asked whether I could have my results over the phone and this wasn't possible..

So you can see my mind is in overdrive does this mean bad news??

So my hubby is like a zombie full of worry and well I'm not much better..although I've had so many health issues over the years we've both said we'd both deal with it like we've always done...

Thank you for reading this xx

  • Good luck for today, hoping you get good news.

    Hi Soph,

Our imaginations tend to run away with us at this stage and it's almost impossible not to think the worst, no matter how unlikely that may seem in our more sensible moments. It is always hard for younger people to get taken seriously when they consult their GPs, as it is mostly older people who get cancer. Unfortunately, even younger people are not immune and they often have to push to get a breast clinic appointment.

Your appointment should come through within 2 weeks from the date of referral, although some clinics are still running behind and can take a little longer. Of all the people who attend the breast clinic, only 2 people out of every 10 will get a cancer diagnosis. I sincerely hope that your GP is correct and that this is a cyst.

Please let us know when your appointment comes through.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Jen_Jen_,

My apologies - I thought that your appointment was yesterday.

I sincerely hope that nothing untoward was found today.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hey ladies sorry I haven't come back to you sooner it's been a crazy day ...

Fantastic news although still slightly concerned it's a Rare benign tumor that will be removed next month under GA then analysed to ensure it's not anything sinister (very small chance) it doesn't connect with any ducts within the breast it's in the connective tissue....

I'll keep you posted and thank you xxx
