Hi all,
Just looking for some advice really, I had a phone appointment with my GP a couple of months ago due to abnormal menstrual bleeding and discomfort and pain. She called me in to be seen within 30 mins of our phone call, I was referred for transvaginal scans, they did two at different points in my cycle to assess endometrial thickness and determined it's abnormally thick and needed further investigation as they can't actually see if there's anything within the lining.
Four days after my last scan I had another catch up with my GP who referred me to gyno on a 2 week urgent referral. I was given a number to call if I had heard nothing by a certain date.
Knowing the NHS are up against it I gave them a bit of extra time, thinking surely an urgent referral from a GP would be flagged in some way, yesterday I called the gyno clinic to be told my referral hasn't been reviewed yet (it now states OVERDUE in red letters on the NHS App), it probably won't even be looked at for weeks and appointments for urgent referrals are currently taking 6-8 MONTHS. This is Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, not sure if other locations are in the same boat.
I fed this back to my GP who I have a call with later today but I am absolutely beside myself. I can't live like this for 6-8 months, I'm signed off work but will need to go back when this fit note runs out as staying off any longer isn't financially viable, luckily my employer is incredibly understanding and I can arrange to work entirely remotely so I can try to remain comfortable in the meantime.
Is there anything I can do, anyone I can speak to for advice, someone I can write to or call about this? I just need help, and it feels like the NHS are hedging their bets on it not being anything sinister which will get worse in the next 6-8 months, which isn't a gamble I can willingly take.
