Symptoms & Biopsy - cervical cancer

I don't want to jump to conclusions. But I've been having odd symptoms for probably years ... pain in what feels like my ovaries , but more recent really heavy periods , pain in my pelvis/hips, pain in my lower back , bloating , and pain after sex. I had a smear last year that came back normla however previously I have had treatment for CIN3 and also been positive for HPV. I went to the nurse 2 weeks ago she took swabs all negative & she referred me to gyne . I'd been waiting for a letter however today the hospital called me asking me to go straight in & that they would squeeze me in between appointments.  (To me that's odd in itself) . I was told I meed a colpsocopy examination which they did and then the Dr took biopsies he told me I would need a minimum of a loop excision but that we need to await the biopsy results and also he's going to book me in for a scan. To me this all seems a little odd and I can't help but assume the worse , surely they have seen something even if its just CIN1, CIN2 or something minor. No one has actually said anything ? So now I'm just sat waiting ? Any similar stories is this normal? Last time I have CIN3 they just did a loop excision and was done with it they didn't take biopsies and make me wait for results etc .

  • Hi Mrsbettyrabbitt,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand all of this causing some questions and confusion. It is good to hear though that they are being thorough and that you're hopefully not too far away from getting all the information you need.

I hope it's not too long to wait for your results and any further tests. While waiting, if you want to talk things through then you are welcome to give our nurses a call. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Otherwise if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
