Another armpit lump

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe I'm back on these boards again. It was only a year since my last post.

So I have found an armpit lump. This seems to be the normal for me. And my last scan a year ago I was told it was just excess tissue nothing to worry about.

But I can't remember if this is the same armpit (so the same excess tissue) and I've just re discovered it....or if this is new.

If it's the same armpit how do I cope continuously re finding this excess tissue and not letting my mind go into overdrive? Is it something I should get checked regularly?

Sorry for rambling obviously I recognise that this anxiety isn't healthy and needs addressing too.

Thank you

  • Hello SnoopyB,

Welcome back to our forum although I am sorry that another armpit lump worry has brought you back here. It's reassuring that last year's scan didn't pick up anything concerning, just excess tissue. It would be useful I think to try and find out whether it's the same armpit and linked to last year's issue or not. This is something you could easily find out perhaps by giving your surgery a call and asking them to check your doctor's notes and past scans to see which armpit was scanned last time.

However, I think that whether it is the same armpit or not, it would be good to have this looked at again as you found this new lump or it feels to you like it might be something a bit different and it's better to have it examined even if just for peace of mind. Do mention it to your GP and make sure you mention too that this is making you anxious and that you are concerned about this anxiety and how much it is affecting you.

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have had similar issues before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you. I hope everything turns out to be fine for you and that you get the reassurance you need soon.

    Best wishes,
