Transvaginal Ultrasound experience has me fearing the worst

Hi,

after many months of 12-14 day long periods and being told by 3 different GPs to go on the mini pill (I'm 37 and have 4 wonderful children) I pushed for more investigation.

I had my ultrasound today and the sonographer said my left ovary was 3.5, my right was 4cm and my endometrial lining (on day 2 of my period) was 8mm.

She told me I have to book an appointment to see my GP next week which I've done, but just wondering if those measurements sound ok?  Or if anyone can shed any light on their own measurements/experiences/outcomes please?

  • Hello just_sam23,

You did well to push for more investigation after experiencing many months of 12-14 day long periods. I noticed that you have talked to another member of the forum in your other thread about this and I hope it helps to chat with others here who have had a similar experience. Hopefully others who have had similar measurements will come and share their story with you.

You've done well to book an appointment to see the GP next week and your doctor will be able to tell you more about these measurements and what they might mean. Don't hesitate to ask any questions about anything that worries you.

I hope your appointment goes well next week and that you get more clarity on this soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie,

Yes I'm thankful for some others who have shared their experiences but realise I simply need to wait, I'm just not very good at that unfortunately!

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it :)

  • Hi l am post menopausal and have had complex ovarian cysts 6 cm and 4cm l had left sided pain after MRI and repeated bloods l had surgery . They found extensive adhesions on the left and couldn't see the overy. The surgery took 4 1/2 hours instead of the expected day surgery.
Fortunatly the multiple biopsies were benign.
l hope you have a similar outcome they did say at my first gynaecology appointment that they only remove cysts over 10cm, My oncologist asked if I wanted to have the cysts removed. As they can be precancerous.

    take care
