Histology report anxiety

After an anxious 6 week wait for a histology report, I phoned my gp surgery. The receptionist would not discuss my results but told me they were with my Gp. They also told me that there were no appointments available today and that I should phone back tomorrow but to note they had a half day due to training. I asked if they could give me any indication as I suffered from anxiety. They replied they were sorry, they understood, phone back tomorrow....I was a jibbering wreck and had my daughter off school poorly!! I held it together until my husband got home.

When my husband got home he phoned the surgery and spoke to another receptionist who arranged a telephone appointment with my Gp the following morning and printed off a report for me to collect explaining no further treatment was required and I'd been referred back to my gp.... It's safe to say my imagination had gone wild on that first call. I'm posting this for anyone in a similar situation. The long wait doesn't always mean the worst and different receptionists (people) have a different manner. The second receptionist admitted she'd had a scare herself and to me that explains a lot. I really hope this helps someone.
