2ww referral after qFIT >400

Hey

I had a qFIT done about 2 weeks ago and last Monday my GP rang me with results which were >400ug and told me he is sending an urgent 2ww referral for colonoscopy.

I am severely anemic and my blood hemoglobin started to go down (currently at about 105-110, normal range is 120-160 I was told).

I have some bad stomach cramping and bad gas, it's been like this for few years now but my GP never paid any attention to it. I read in some documents online that qFIT >400, statistically means 80% chances of colon cancer. How true that is I do not know but I am trying to remain positive.

My question is, does anyone know how quick it may be? I live in Northern Ireland. Its been a week since referral and I haven't heard anything.

Thanks all!

  • Hi

I am in Scotland. I was put on the 2ww for colonoscopy.

I got referred on a wednesday, I got a letter two weeks after that with a phone appointment for 2 weeks after I got the letter. On the call I was asked about symptoms etc and then told I will receive my appointment and prep in the post, I received this two days later with my appointment for a week after that.

    Hope that makes sense.

  • Hi,

How did you get on? Did you have the colonoscopy done yet? I live in northern ireland also, I was diagnosed with Diverticular disease 3yrs ago, but for a few months was noticing bleeding in the stools and changed of stools but thought nothing of it, I put mine down to Diverticular disease, I got concern a few weeks ago with the mount of blood and rang the doctor, within the week and sending off the qfit test it came back reading 400, she has put in a referral also,  fingers crossed, hopefully you are doing OK.
