CA 125 scan

Hi! I'm a 23 year old female. Last year I made the decision to donate my eggs. As usual, they did a scan to count the eggs etc however there was a 5cm cyst on my right ovary. The nurse reassured me it's normal and I went for a second scan two months after and my cyst was still there. They put me on some pill and I went for a scan again after 3 months or so and the cyst was there, covering my entire ovary. I spoke with the doctor and she told me to go to my gyno and book a CA 125 test asap. I didn't know what that test was but I just searched it up and i am a bit worried. Does this mean there is a chance I have ovarian cancer? Both my parents are healthy and my grandad did pass from cancer however I was told it was due to the alcohol. I'm worried pls help with advice!

  • Hi Nidnid and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your cyst and for the worry the CA125 test is causing.

Many of our members have been in this situation so hopefully some of them will share their experiences with you soon but in the meantime, I hope this reply one of our cancer nurses gave to another member who was due a CA125 test will help put your mind at ease. If you'd like to discuss this further, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Waiting for tests and results is never easy but we are here for you Nidnid and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.
