Suspicious Breast Calcifications and swollen lymph nodes

Update from my last post - what should have been just one imaging appointement turned into a lot more on the day where they are "concerned". Anyone had ultrasound, biopsies, and metal clips inserted as a result of "suspicious calcifications" in breast and been given the all clear?

Waiting for test results and fearing the worst, particularly as I have swollen lymph nodes too which have also been biopsied.

I know every case is different and I just have to wait for the results etc. but asking on here just in case anyone has been through anything similar - in particular breast lump, being told there are suspicious calcifications AND swollen lymph nodes

Thanks

  • Thanks so much Lara,

My dad had a cardiac arrest in September and my manager was majorly hacked off I didn't return by December which is when they all disappear on their vacations. I was signed off till second week of Jan then this whole potential cancer saga started 2nd March.

I will definitely post an update tomorrow in case it helps anyone else going through the same stress.

  • Same as you up to the point you describe. Didn't get all clear but in treatment now and doing well :)

  • Hi [@nixbythesea]‍, this is all I have right now...

I reviewed you in clinic on 31/3/2023. Included below are my notes from the clinic visit and visit diagnosis which have been shared with your referring doctor.

Diagnosis: Malignant neoplasm of female breast

    Clinic note:

    Diagnosis:

Bilateral breast lumps. Right M2, U2 (cysts), Left M5, U5, A5 46mm mass associated with extensive area of micro calcifications with multiple pathological looking lymph nodes in the left axilla.

    Core biopsies

    A. Left Breast core biopsy: Invasive adenocarcinoma of ductal type and of Grade 3. B5b

    B.  Left axilla biopsy : Metastaic adenocarcinoma.

Left breast: High nuclear grade in situ carcinoma (B5a).

    MDT plan

    1. Staging CT.

    2. MRI breasts.

    3. Receptors awaited.

It was a pleasure seeing you today in the Parapet Breast Clinic along with Julie, one of our specialist breast care nurses.

Unfortunately, I had to give you the diagnosis of left breast cancer.

There is evidence of spread in the left armpit, therefore, we will need to do a CT scan to exclude any spread of the disease elsewhere.

We will also arrange for you to have an MRI scan of your breasts to confirm the size of the left sided breast cancer and exclude any abnormalities on the right breast.

I have arranged for these tests, which will probably happen next week, and I will see you back in clinic to discuss the results and the treatment plan.

  • That's the scary part, just not knowing if it's spread. I'm really struggling with this wait. I can't believe this is happening.
