Hi there,
I found a lump in my left breast about 7 weeks back. Finally got a GP appointment, who referred me for a scan in hospital the following week. At the scan they did an ultrasound and said they were sure the lump was not a cyst, but couldn't be sure it was not cancerous without doing a biopsy. Biopsy was performed successfully (absolutely horrible experience and so painful), now just waiting on the results. The consultant who did the biopsy did seem slightly concerned when I told her there is a history of breast cancer in my family, and that I've recently been suffering from night sweats, nausea and back pain. Today I got a letter describing the physical exam and ultrasound findings, with the latter as follows:
'An irregular not parallel micro lobulated hypoechoic mass with increased vascularity.'
Googling those terms (obviously a bad idea, but I'm human!) was frightening - I even read a study which suggested increased vascularity meant a mass is 82% more likely to be malignant.
Has anyone else had similar ultrasound findings and been told the mass was cancerous? I know I can't find the answers on a forum, but it's been so hard to get my mind off this or think about anything else!
