Awaiting Biopsy

Hi Everyone,

 

I have recently had a changing mole on my chest that I was worried about so i went to the GP they reviewed it and fast tracked me to the dermatology team which i had my appointment a week ago now and they told me they would rush my biospy through and I would have it removed in the next 2 weeks. However after contacting the dermatology team i found out that there is now no theatre spaces until April. However, I go away on a holiday on April 7th as i told the consultant so i am now worried it won't be removed until after my holiday. As i am on 20 years old I am very worried about this mole along with just loosing my Grandma to skin Cancer and my mum also previously having skin cancer.

Is there anything I can do? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Lainie,

    I'm sorry you are having this delay and worry. I suggest you contact dermatology again and tell them you are happy to accept a last minute theatre cancellation if one becomes available (if you can drop everything with a few hours notice). 

    The wait of a few extra weeks doesn't usually cause too much, if any, negative effect with regards to it growing. However, if your mum and/or gran also had melanoma you don't need that extra worry.
