Enlarged lymph nodes with neck pain - don't know what to do

I've been pretty sick recently (which might be the cause but you can never be too sure) but I've had a few swollen lymph nodes in my neck followed by quite a lot of pain within the area of the nodes for around 9 weeks now. It's also "multiplied" over the time having them. It started out as one near the back of my ear (on the right side) and now there's a weird conjoined one aswell as a smaller one I just found while writing this. and a few smaller ones on the left. I've discussed with my parents about it but I don't think they think it's much. I've tried to get them to get me a gp appointment but I don't really think it's working. I'm kinda worried it might be something bad, or even worse - cancer. What do I do? (I'm very sorry if I posted it in the wrong area, this is my first post!)

  • Hello bitty,

A big welcome to our forum! I am so sorry to hear you have been so sick recently and that you have noticed these swollen lymph nodes in your neck and there's been quite a lot of pain in that area now for 9 weeks.

It's very unlikely to be anything sinister as there are so many other reasons that can explain swollen lymph nodes especially as you were poorly recently but you did the right thing to talk to your parents about this and it would be a good idea if you are worried to see your GP and get the reassurance you need.

I hope you feel better soon and that you manage to speak to your doctor about it for peace of mind.

    Best wishes,
