    Hi Cha,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am glad to hear that you don't have too long to wait until your appointment at the breast clinic. I have seen oters on this site who have complained of raised bloods, but no two cases are the same. There are many reasons for lumps, such as cysts and fibroadenoma.

This is a very anxious time, when you are waiting to find out. Try to keep yourself busy and don't consult Dr Google, as this will only serve to scare you further. Of all the people referred to the breast clinic, only 20% will get a cancer diagnosis, so there is a strong chance that you could be one of the 80%.

Our imaginations tend to run away with us whilst we're waiting to be seen. Even if it does turn out to be cancer, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare have all improved tremendously in the past few years. Many people are now living with it instead of dying from it. I lost my own mum to secondary breast cancer and have had 2 bouts myself. There was just no comparison between the care that we both received. I am still living a busy and fulfilling life, 13 years on from diagnosis.

Are you aware that you may not get a diagnosis on Saturday? The usual tests tend to be a mammogram, ultrasound and a biopsy. Younger people don't always have a mammogram, as their breasts are denser and don't show up well. If you have a biopsy, it can take from 1-3 weeks to get the results. Make sure to ask wnen you are likely to get the results at the time that these procedures are carried out. It is much less stressful when you have some idea of when to expect them.

I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Pease keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
