Lump in neck by collar bone

Hi

I found a lump just above my collar bone on left hand side. Sometimes the lump feels bigger and sometimes seems to shrink down in size but is always there in some form, it is not painful at all.  I was unwell around 3 months ago (suspected COVID but all tests were negative) and all my glands were swolled and painful but went back down after now this one seems to have appeared.

I also have some discomfort in my throat when swallowing (not painful as such but feels like there is something there), ear pain on and off and an achey feeling all around the base of my neck. I also get pain in the centre of my chest just above my breasts but this comes and goes.

I had an appointment with my GP, he asked lots of questions and tried to look in my throat.  He said he was unable to see my tonsils which was odd.  He has referred me to have an ultrasound on my neck which I am having on Friday.  I am really starting to stress about it now as I have been googling (I know I shouldn't).

Just wondering if anyone has had any similar symptoms and what the outcomes were?

I would appreciate any advice you have to share xx

  • Hi Sandy79,

It's good to hear you've seen your GP about this and that you have the referral appointment coming up soon. I can understand your concerns and I know the uncertainty is difficult - as you say, do try not to Google this as the information will often be irrelevant and it tends to lead to further worries.

I hope the appointment goes OK tomorrow - do be sure to ask any questions you have.

In the meantime, if others have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
