Endometrial biopsy

Hello everyone  i recently had a biopsy for thickness of my uterine lining . It all started off with my periods bleeding excessively for 42 days and large clots and having pain in abdomen I had scans and it showed large fibroids and cysts and thickness of my uterus , it's been two weeks now I haven't heard anything and I'm feeling very scared , and have been put on medication to stop the bleeding and iron tablets and I was feeling very weak and fatigue due to blood loss , I haven't been able to go to work as I don't feel physically well enough and the immense pressure on my bladder from the fibroid is very uncomfortable. I didnt know I had uterine fibroids.

  • Hi Milesy, didn't want to leave this with no response and I don't have much advice to give you but I'm in a similar boat, albeit haven't got to the biopsy stage yet.

Went to GP with abnormal heavy bleeding and huge clot loss, was referred for transvaginal scan, uterine lining was so thick they couldn't see anything they needed to so they called me back in just after my period had finished to see if it helped. Had that done and was told the thickness is still abnormal but they can't tell me anything 'definitive' and I should hear from my referring GP in 3 days... Nothing yet and I don't know if I should call and ask for someone to call me back or take no news as good news; I just can't get past the anxiety and worry, I'm not sleeping, I'm uncomfortable with lower abdominal and back aches, weeing all the time and now started to feel like I've got a UTI with burning sensations. I've had to arrange to work completely remotely for the time being just so I can try and remain comfortable.

Do you have anyone close to you that you can vent your worries to? Keep posting and let us know how you're getting on, and don't be afraid to push for results or a timeframe for them if you're not hearing from anyone, waiting with the phone on loud every day not knowing when they'll call is excruciating.

    Sending love x

  • Thank you for the reply and I'm so sorry for what you are going through also . It must be so difficult for you .I don't sleep in the nights I fall asleep in the day time lately . I hope you can get some answers soon . I have people I can turn to but sometimes I feel like I am keeping on all the time and feel like a burden . It helps when I talk about it . Love to you xxx

  • Just wanted to jump on and reply, I am in a similar situation. I have just had my endometrial biopsy and my results are scheduled for the 27th of Match (telephone call). My scan didn't show anything however I have been bleeding since December.

I do have PCOS but this has never happened before.

  •  43 years old been on HRT for about a year. Been bleeding non stop last 3-4 months. Vaginal scan shows a growth in lining now have to wait another 2 weeks for gynaecologist follow up!

  • Wishing you all the best, I have been bleeding everyday since December but biopsies and scans have come back normal
