Severe abnormal cells & HR HPV

I was wondering if someone can help or give me some advice as I feel I am going out of mind!! 
 

I bled (like a nose bleed) after sex and went straight to the doctors which said it was an erosion, however, my smear 2 weeks after has come back with severe abnormal changes and HR HPV and I have an appointment straight away for them to look closer at my cervix. 
 

I am so worried about this as if I was your average healthy person this is worrying enough, however, I have a few health issues and I have a low immune system and there has been some weird red flags over the last year including the bleeding after sex. I know cancer takes years to progress but if your immune system is low then it could take less time. My main concerns is how long have these abnormal cells been there and how quickly could they have spread. I also have fibromyalgia which causes me horrible lower back and pelvis pain and now I am thinking have I been diagnosed correctly and could this actually be cancer! My mind is running WILD. I am only 35, do not have children yet and would like to chance to have children them but I just keep thinking this is bad news and I can't catch a break.

    Hello lj_fletch88 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat, 

    You did the right thing going to the doctor's when you noticed this bleeding after sex and hopefully they can tell you more about this erosion and what can be done to stop any further bleeding. Try not to be alarmed by your smear test results and the fact that they have noticed severe abnormal cells. This has happened to countless ladies on the forum who will I am sure be happy to share their experience with you and hopefully reassure you. Make sure you mention when you have your appointment that you have been bleeding after sex. It's difficult to know how long these abnormal cells have been there but try not to be too anxious about it as treatment is usually straightforward and successful in dealing with these. It's tempting when worried about cancer for our minds to "run wild" as you rightly said and to see every muscular ache and pain as caused by cancer but the reality is your issues are linked to your fibromyalgia diagnosis and unrelated to the abnormal cervical cells. If anxious about it though, feel free to mention your fears to your GP who will have the expertise to explain things to you in detail. 

    I am sure that once you have treatment, there will be no reason not to have children as having abnormal cervical cells will not prevent you from having children. What is really important is to have the treatment as soon as you can so it can be dealt with efficiently and you can then feel reassured everything is ok.
