Pagets or Infection

Hi,

I am 45 years old and around 10 weeks ago my right nipple was unbearable to touch/anything rubbed against it I could have gone through the roof. I had been suffering from sharp shooting pains (still am but not as much) through my nipple. I then noticed a yellow patch/discharge coming from the nipple. I went to see my GP who examined me and prescribed antibiotics for what she thinks was an infection.

That weekend my nipple bled once (I'm thinking this is normal with an infection?) I finished my 2 week dose of antibitotics though the discharge has gone the shooting pain is still there (though not as bad) The nipple can become sore and sensitive to touch. It has also began to itch (I could rip it off sometimes!). I am booked in at the breast clinic this week.

I just wondered whether anyone else had experienced something similar that did only turn out to be an infection or whether it was Pagets.

Thank you :-)

  • Hi Griffin,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you've seen the doctor and also that you have an appointment coming up at the breast clinic. I can understand this is causing some concern, so hopefully you're able to get some answers soon.

If others here have similar experience to share then hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

I hope that the appointment goes OK this week.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, l see this post was a few months ago.. l am in a similar situation as yourself. Going to the breast clinic tomorrow and feeling fairly anxious. The GP gave me cream which did not work and swabs have come back negative for infection. How have you got on? I dont see any replies or follow ups so l hope all is well with you. x
