FIT test - further testing needed. Very anxious

Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been reading various posts with interest. I returned the NHS FIT on the 6 March and received a letter by the weekend that I need further testing, I assume this will be a colonoscopy. Should I be concerned about such a swift reply, does that mean it's urgent? My anxiety levels are high and I'm wondering all sorts. I have a week to wait for the consultation. I haven't had any symptoms.

  • I am a couple of weeks in advance of you. Look up your notes on the NHS app - register if you need to but NOT if you over worry things.

So my FIT was 52 and anything over 10 is an automatic referral for further testing. My GP then took and armful of blood - all normal but close to Chronic Kidneyu Disease that I guess he will pick up once the intestines are sorted out.

Had a tele consultation with the hospital after the blood results and then a CT Scan. That is when it has slowed as everything else happened quickly.

Apparently the CT results can take up to a month! They do not put them in your records as they want to give yu the context good or bad - so I cannot cheat by looking them up ️

In your case I would call the Dr and ask. Tell the receptionist it is urgent and yes a telephone call will do (I assume all surgeries do tel now).

Then let her (or him) tell you what the results said - if you have not looked them up.

Best wishes and trust all goes well.

  • I've no idea on the number, they don't give you that. You say anything over 10 is an automatic referral. I will ask as it is t online.
