I had a hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago and was dreading it as I had previously had a bad experiece of having polyp removed. The consultant carrying out the procedure who didnt even introduce himself to me was using a laser without anesthetic. I have a high pain threshold but this was horrific, I felt like I was being burnt from the inside. I have to say this time it was a totally different experience. The staff were professional and the consultant explained what she was going to do before I went to theatre. I was given a local anesthetic which was a cold gel applied by the consultant to the area beforehand and I had a nurse sat beside me explaining everything the consultant was doing. I had a 10cm fibroid removed and 2 biopsies taken due to the very thick lining of the cervix. They maintained my dignity through and can't praise them enough. This was throught the NHS who had outsourced to a private hospital so maybe that is why the experience was so much better. Before I left I was given an appointment to discuss results which is next week
