hysteroscopy

I am due to have a hysteroscopy  on Tuesday  next week .I have read on here some people have had to and it's not too bad other say it's really painful  can anyone tell me any more please I do need it doing as they suspect cancer as my womb is thickened so really worried now

  • I had a hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago and was dreading it as I had previously had a bad experiece of having polyp removed. The consultant carrying out the procedure who didnt even introduce himself to me was using a laser without anesthetic. I have a high pain threshold but this was horrific, I felt like I was being burnt from the inside. I have to say this time it was a totally different experience. The staff were professional and the consultant explained what she was going to do before I went to theatre. I was given a local anesthetic which was a cold gel applied by the consultant to the area beforehand and I had a nurse sat beside me explaining everything the consultant was doing. I had a 10cm fibroid removed and 2 biopsies taken due to the very thick lining of the cervix. They maintained my dignity through and can't praise them enough. This was throught the NHS who had outsourced to a private hospital so maybe that is why the experience was so much better. Before I left I was given an appointment to discuss results which is next week
