Worried about my raised Ca125. Can anyone give me any advice

Hi I really need some advice in October I had a full blood count for something that was unrelated. I do have slight adenomyosis . But my ca125 came back at 51 so I was sent for an ultrascan and it was clear, no fibroids, no endometriosis, no cyst. So I have been having my blood checked every 3 months. In December it was 49 so still high but had come down by 2. But I have just had it done again this week and it was 110. So now I am on 2ww for gynaecologist app. I was on day 2 of my heavy period when I had the bloods taken but my doctor said it wouldn't make it rise by this much. Can anyone give me any advice because I am beside myself with worry and I am on my own with 2 children. Thankyou

  • Hello Kada84

I'm sorry to hear that there have been some concerns about your CA125 results over the past few months. It's reassuring to hear that the scan you had back in October didn't give any immediate cause for concern but it's understandable that you're feeling anxious given the most recent result.

A CA125 result can be impacted by your menstrual cycle but it seems sensible that your GP has referred you to the gynaecology team to have this investigated to make sure there is nothing else going on.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It can help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it beneficial to chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment and that the specialist is able to give you some reassurance. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
