Hi this chat site has been a god send over the last few days. I'm writing this as therapy.
This is my story...I'm 51 and still have regular periods although over the last year they have become heavier, painful and more frequent which I just thought was premenopausal symptoms. I have PCOS and have 3 children. I have suffered with extreme pain and what I thought was a prolapse last year but was reassured it was just a water infection and normal after 3 children respectively. In January I had a particularly bad period and then another 3 weeks later. In October 21 I went to Turkey and had weight loss surgery so have regular blood tests and at the end of January this showed I was extremely anaemic and a few days later I fainted at work and was rushed to hospital where they found high levels of carbon dioxide in my blood but after a retest and diagnosis of heavy periods they referred me back to my gp.
I decided to dig into my test results from my pre op in Turkey and noticed they'd identified a fibroid measuring 31mm. this has been shared with my gp at the time but they hadn't picked it up.
I was referred for a routine scan which I had on Wednesday and my gp called me same day with the results, this confirmed the fibroid (32x28mm) identified a moderately enlarged left kidney and a womb lining thickening of 19mm. I have a 2ww referral and am due to have my hysteroscopy on the 22nd March.
I'm so scared and wish I could just go to sleep and wake up on the 22nd. I can't really talk to anyone because I'm either trying to protect them or I'm worried I just look negative.
I just don't know what to think my biggest fear is that this has been going on for sometime and is advanced although I know it could be the fibroid that's causing the problems. I'm in constant pain which means I can't really put it out of my mind. I'm trying to carry on as normal but really struggling.
Thank you for listening (reading) and I hope you all have a positive outcome!
xx
