Polyp on cervix

Hi! I went for my smear test after 3 years and the nurse couldn't do anything because she found a polyp on my cervix. She called the doctor to have a look and now I have to go to the hospital for a colposcopy. 3 years ago I had HPV and very low grade. The biospy showed very little changes in cells. So now I am worried and waiting for the colposcopy. I read that women can get polyps but later in life after having children. I have no children. What can you tell me about polyps on the cervix? Mine is located near the vagina, the nurse said that it is to the right side near vagina! Thank you

    I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been told you have a cervical polyp. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious ahead of your colposcopy appointment. 

    You may have read that cervical polyps are quite common and that in the majority of cases, they are benign. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment or for the results afterward.
