Hard swollen gland

I have had a hard swollen lymph node for at least six months now, over tomorrow at the doctors I forgot to mention it as it's not painful. Doctors now examined it and I was referred for a two week ENT emergency appointment, on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I have already been wrong by the ENT department with an appointment. I was already concerned but now this concerns me more so it's being done so quickly. My glands are really big I would say the size of a small plum, I followed a YouTube on how to examine your other lymph nodes in the body, as far as I can see, nothing else is swollen. I was just hoping for someone to listen to me having a bit of a moan as this concerns me very much. Can anyone advise please

  • Hello Paynehouse66,

It's good  that you got this hard swollen lymph node examined by the doctors and that you have been referred and already have an appointment booked to be seen at ENT. I can understand why you are feeling anxious but it's great that things are moving quickly so that you can have some clarity sooner on what is causing these issues. There's nothing worse than waiting for answers for what feels like forever so fingers crossed you get definite answers very soon.

Try if you can to resist the temptation to look things up online or follow lymph node tutorials on You Tube as this will only exacerbate your anxiety and won't give you any certainty or clarity on anything. All you can do really for now is wait which is really the hardest thing but there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

You're not having a moan - that's what we're here for, to support one another during difficult times and I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have been through something similar before.

I hope you get some answers soon!

    Best wishes,
