Large "complex" fibroadenoma

Hi all,

Just posting on here for some reassurance or if anyone has gone through this..

I'm 26 years old and on the POP (progesterone only pill)

In 2021 I had a full body CT scan following an accident, and they found a mass in my right breast. I was always aware I had a little lump there, so wasn't too concerned as it never bothered me - however they biopsied it and it came back benign as expected. They offered to remove it if it was giving me any discomfort but I declined.

2023 now and I've noticed the lump has grown considerably and is very painful over the last few months. I noticed an indent too. I also want to get breast reduction so consulted my GP. She advised to have the lump checked again before pursuing this

I had my appointment at the breast clinic and the ultrasound technician confirmed that the lump has grown and is in fact very complex looking. She said it looked about 3-4x bigger and it had spider web like structures running through it.

They did another core biopsy but I'm so anxious. She said they don't tend to grow unless you're pregnant or have been pregnant and I'm neither.

I get my results next Wednesday...go through periods of being worried sick - to being convinced it's nothing.

Just a side note there is a history of BC in my family.

Thanks all x

  • Hello clever_chicken,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your core biopsy results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
