Swollen lymph nodes for months, high LDH, feeling anxious

Hi all, 27f

I feel very anxious as I am waiting to get an ultrasound for a swollen cervical lymph node and my GP said it would take 4-6 weeks.

I went to the GP for a cyst and to meet him as I have switched GPs and get my prescriptions sorted. He asked if I had ever had this swollen lymph node in my neck looked at but I hadn't. I'm often at different Drs for an autoimmune disease so I figured someone would say something if it was a problem.

he's sending me for an ultrasound and was concerned because the node is 25mm. It's been there around 6 months. I'm often fatigued and unwell and itchy but again I have an autoimmune disorder so I attributed it to this. I've also recently lost 25 lbs in the last few months but I thought this was from switching from a desk job to one on my feet.

I'm very anxious now because I felt around my neck and I actually have three or four cervical lymph nodes swollen on the right side and a (maybe 15mm) supraclavical lymph node on my left side. At my last rheum appointment a month ago my LDH was also high.

Im feeling anxious because I knew that lump was there but didnt do anything about it earlier. Waiting for a ultrasound also feels like an impossible task right now. Needless to say, the anxiety has my autoimmune disorder flaring as well.

If you have any advice or guidance please do share it with me.

  • Hello MCL,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your ultrasound - 4-6 weeks certainly is quite a long time to have to wait and I hope that you will be seen sooner rather than later. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you as you are waiting to find out more about these swollen lymph nodes.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through something similar before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
