Weakness after APR Surgery

Hi

i had APR surgery at the beginning of January for Rectal cancer.

 

I have been recovering well but have got back pains and generally feel weak in the pelvic area and have some weird feelings around that area.

 

has anyone else had anything similar? I just keep worrying and thinking it's cancer related but also think that maybe I am weak in the core area.

 

have got an MRI booked for a couple of weeks but just annoying.

    I am glad your recovery is going well and I hope that you will get to chat to other members of our community who have had APR surgery before and experienced similar symptoms afterwards. To put your mind at rest that this weakness in the pelvic area is not cancer related but a result of the surgery, you could perhaps give your doctor a call. Make sure you mention all the symptoms you've listed here so that they are aware of everything. 

    I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had APR surgery and felt the same way. I had a little look around the forum and found [@lucullan]‍ who posted this thread recently and whose husband also had APR surgery so it could be a good person for you to connect with. 

    The MRI will definitely provide some answers but I can imagine that in the meantime you feel a little bit confused. Don't hesitate to reach out to your medical team and tell them how you are feeling post surgery.

    Hey A, how is it going?

    I deleted my FB account so I lost contact with you via messenger. How are you feeling? Did you have your MRI scan done yet?

    My hubby is now 3 months post APR. All is finally healed but still we have issues with neuropathy. 

    He will have his first post surgery MRI in May.

    Let me know how you are doing..
