Raised ca125 and clear ultrasound

Hi all,

Posting to try and ease some anxiety.

Back in the summer i had persistent bloating upper epigastric pain, indigestion and back ache. Went to gp who did bloods ca125 was 35. Urgent referral for abdominal and pelvis ultrasound and transvaginal scan. All came back clear.

Endoscopy showed small hiatus hernia at cardio oesophageal junction.

Periods have been regular but may be a couple of days late and bleed for 4 days now. Im 42 and this month i was 3 weeks late. Did preg test and negative. Had various bloods for hormones, full blood count which was all ok not sure how to read fsh. However ca125 is now 65.

Ive got back ache and bloating which has returned in the last day or 2. Gp is writing to gynae for urgent advice and guidance.

Not sure where to go from here or what to think. Im also blood scared.

Many thanks for reading

  • Hello Majestic and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

It's good to hear that all the other tests you've had so far have come back clear and within normal range although it's completely understandable, and natural, to be concerned about your ca125 levels.

As you can see just here, a ca125 level can be raised for many reasons, such as endometriosis, your period and/or ovarian cysts. I hope knowing this will help put your mind at ease, but if you feel it may help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Many of our members know how scary this situation can be, so you are not alone, and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

We hope you won't be waiting too long to find out what happens next and we'll have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
