Lump on back, really painful only at night

Hi Everyone,  I wonder if anyone has been in a similar position to me in any parts of my story?!  So last year, May 2022, I stated getting pain in my back, but only at night, its so bad I can barely move, but once I have been stood up and moving for 30-60 mins the pain goes until I am lay down for an hour or more.  I was first referred for physio but this didn't work.  I suffer with my mental health and Drs is something I really struggle with but finally agreed to go back and on 2nd Fab I was referred under the 2 week pathway.  So my first question is has anyone had any symptoms similar to mine (I also have random stabbing pains in stomach, lumps coming up on my legs and feet, severe fatigue and sudden urge to poo, not always making it), has anyone had anything similar?

Secondly I only received my appointment letter yesterday (27th Feb) and the appointment isn't until 31st March.  When I phoned GP to question they said that the Consultant had looked at my refereal with some other Drs and said it doesn't need to be rushed through?  But they haven't seen me in person.  Does this sound right?  I understand that waiting lists are long at the moment but I' struggling hugely with my anxiety over this and also worrying I'm not being a good parent to my 3 young children as have no energy and scared to travel far due to worrying about needing the toilet eith no warning.

Thanks so much if you have made it this far and sorry if I seem inconsiderate or inpatient as I know others have much longer waiting times.

  • Hi kimberly.x.,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you're going through a tough time with these symptoms and also that you have a bit of a wait for your appointment. It's good to hear though that you have seen the doctor and that you will have this appointment with the specialist.

It's difficult to advise on their reasons for the appointment time, only to say that, as you mention, waiting times can often be a little long and I know this is difficult to deal with. If you feel your symptoms are debilitating and you're struggling, I can only suggest to try to speak to the doctor again to see if things can be hurried through.

I hope that things improve and that you're able to get some answers soon. Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
