I honestly have no idea apart from my own experience at a hospital in Leeds (biopsy of a breast lump). I had my biopsy take on Sat 18th Feb and by Monday 20th Feb they had booked in my follow up appointment, so although the biopsy had already been taken the appointment was booked before it could be analysed, and that was scheduled for 10th March so approx 3 weeks as well!

Hope all goes well with yours! It seems we'll be finding out our results in the same day. Let me know how you get on!

Thank you, you too! Afraid to say that Dr Google has been far too tempting over the last few days (that was how I found this forum actually!). Keep going back and forth from being actually quite worried to calmly convinced everything is fine and that I'm being silly. It's the waiting that makes your mind start to spiral. We shall just have to wait and see.

How did you get on?.

I have had the all clear on the Ct scan and biopsy but will be rescanned and possible biopsy again in 3 months as the ENT could still feel the lump. Been told to be aware of any changes in how I'm feeling as I'm fit and well (just really tired) at the moment and he said normally it would indicate an illlness of some sort. So I'm hoping its just enlarged because of the tiredness and will shrink and be not abnormal.

Glad to hear it's good news. We're they able to definitely say what the lump was or just that it wasn't cancer? 

I suppose stress over all of it also wouldn't help with the tiredness. I hope you feel better about everything now, and hope for the same in 3 months time. 

So my biopsy confirmed it definitely wasn't a fibroadenoma but didn't show any signs of malignancy. They believe it's an intraductal papilloma and as a small % of these can be malicious, and because the biopsy samples were so small in comparison to the lump itself, they want to surgically remove the whole thing. Then they'll be able to  analyse it properly and check for any atypical cells. It will mean removing a lot of the milk ducts so they say I might not be able breastfeed on the side when I have children, which is only real part I'm a bit bothered by. Not had surgery before so it will be a new experience for me but it seems like this is the best thing that can be done to confirm everything is all clear

Thankyou, I'm hoping it shrinks or goes away, not had the appt yet for 3 months so I'm not as worried as before.

Kind of good news for you too! The surgery is going to clear everything up with the cells for you. I had surgery a couple of years ago for a polyp removal as was so large and its absolutely fine, the build up is always the worse but the hospital staff are great at reassurance. Its sad you won't be able to breast feed on that side when you have children, but on the whole, its a small price to pay for your health and hopefully you can still breastfeed on the other.

I wish you lots of luck and hope you recover quickly from surgery and are on the road to no more worries about your health.

Thank you that's reassuring to hear, it doesn't surprise me to hear the build up is the worst! I'm just trying to stay busy and not think about it. Bit worried for the pain and scarring aftwards (I made the mistake of googling late one night and came across some surgery videos of th surgey I'll be receiving - instant regret! Do NOT recommend definitely made me feel worse). But again im sure it won't be as bad as im expecting and trying not to think about it too much. As you say, it's a small price to pay for what will hopefully be the end of any health worries on this ️

Hi Bear,

Thanks for thinking of me. Sorry it's taken me so long to see your message. I had surgery on 30th March. It went really well, I was knocked out far longer than the actual surgery itself which  only took 15 minutes! Spent the rest of the day pleasantly high. Recovery has gone really well, from the start, with minimal pain. Incision followed the bottom half of the nipple. 
 

Had a follow up appointment on 14th April where I got the news that further tests following surgery confirmed it was just a papilloma and there was no atypia. So all in all brilliant news! Still likey to have an affect on breastfeeding but will just have to wait to see

Feel very fortunate to have received very my good care unlike some, and feel like my health was put first unlike other young women's experiences Ive read about who are dismissed before even getting an ultrasound let alone a biopsy. Seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery for which NHS trust you have in your local area. All in all it was 2 months from my first GP appointment, to getting the results to 100% confirm everything was non cancerous (with the imaging and needle biopsy at the hospital, follow up appointment to discuss those results, and then surgery to remove the lump all in between).
