Im in a simialr situation as you. i discovered a lump in my left breast about 3-4 weeks ago, after my GP referal, i had my appointment at the breast clinic on thurday 23rd Feb. Im 35 years old with no family history. i eneded up having an ultrasound and bioposy.i was originally told by the consultant i would know on the day and id leave knowing if everything was ok/normal. consultant said that the lump felt innocent and was not concerned.

but once i had my ultrasound i ended up having an biopsy. i now need to wait 2 weeks to find out results. just like you im very nervous and know im going to stuggle during this wait time. 

im trying to stay positive and keep myself busy. x

Yes it sounds like we are in a similar situation! I feel like i am in limbo as they haven't really gave me any inclination to if they think it could be C or not! And i am definitley overthinking as i keep thinking if they didn't think it was anything serious then why did they need to ultrasound and then biopsy. Its so hard isnt it, i just want to know either way.

I find it hardest when i am alone/trying to sleep as my mind runs away with me.

Very sorry you are scared, I know it's hard.

I am surprised you were told a letter means bad news. I was told they always give the results in person, good or bad.

There is also no such thing as being too young for a mammogram if you are waiting to be tested and diagnosed. I am 39 (I have breast cancer) and had an ultrasound and mammogram same day.

They do the imaging that is necessary to get the information they need to treat you.

They always over emphasise the wait, in my case it was 9 days. I know it's difficult but 80% of breast lumps are benign.

Yeah with the letter I don't think it would state if it was C but he said if the letter states that I have an appointment booked in with him then it is likely something suspicious as I would need to see him, if that makes sense. 

And ahh ok he said I was too young to have a mammogram due to breast tissue being too dense or something? But it's good to know that they can do it if needed then! Hopefully I won't need one.

I am sure it won't be anything serious but there's always that small bit of doubt creeping in!

I know how your feeling I'm struggling with the waiting too. I keep having a panic if the postman comes or my phone rings. 

I find splitting the day helps so this morning was awful but started doing things around the house so the afternoon is not so bad so far

Did they tell you that you'll receive the results in the post? 
I honestly can't remember what the breast surgeon told me (am awaiting results of a biopsy take on 18th Feb), I seem to remember he mentioned something vague like 'you may receive the results by letter' so I don't know for sure. So wondered what was standard practice at other hospitals? I keep checking my post box but unsure if I should even be expecting them, or if I should prepare myself for not knowing until my next appointment which has been scheduled for 10th March. Feels like ages away!
I'm really not expecting it to be anything serious, as I'm young and came off hormonal contraception in Oct, so likely a benign fibroadenoma in response to hormonal changes (though have no idea how the long the lump as been there as I found it completely by accident rather than routine monthly checks) but that said I just would like to know for sure! Waiting is the worst part!

The consultant who I saw said that I will get my results through the post, the letter will either state its a fibroadenoma or it will state I have an appointment at the hospital which will most likely mean it's not good news. It must feel like you have been waiting a lifetime! It's only been 4 days for me and I'm getting impatient.

They have said mine could also be a fibroadenoma! Fingers crossed for us both!
