Breast feels empty?

A section of my Brest feels like there's nothing there, there is no verry obvious change visually because it's where the breast naturally curves, there's a small amount of pain whenever i put a good bit of pressure which I assume could be normal. I have been to the gp and was told not to worry because I'm young but I'm still feeling quite anxious about it as I was given no other indication of what it could be. Has anyone else experienced this before? Or have any ideas on what this may be? Should I seek a second opinion? I am feeling quite anxious about it as there is a family history of Brest cancer

  • Hi Mcg5,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I must state first of all that I am not a doctor. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and have never experienced an 'empty feeling' in my breast, nor have I ever heard of anyone complaining of this, in the 13 years that  have been on this forum.

You have done the right thing by seeing your GP about this and I'm sorry to hear that you were given no explanation for this feeling. You do not say what age you are. Young people can find it difficult to get taken seriously, as breast cancer occurs more frequently in older people. You could go back to your GP and ask for an explanation or you could try to see another doctor in the practice for a second opinion.

I hop that you manage to get a satisfactory answer. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello mog5, I have had the feeling of empty breast  tissue. Many many years ago. After breast feeding.  I wonder if you may have had a rapid weight loss, this might give that  empty feeling.  My cancer was hard small lump without pain until hurt accidentally. Hope this helps. Take care. Pip

  • Thanks everyone for your replies, I've had no rapid weight loss and I'm not breastfeeding or anything like that, I've tried looking up on google for what it could be but no luck. That could be because I'm struggling to find the words to describe it as it is such a strange thing.

  • Thank you for such a warm welcome, the gp did say that if I was feeling particularly anxious about it i could ring up and get a scan or something, but i don't want to seem like I'm overreacting

  • HI,

You're not over-reacting. If you don't feel reassured, do ring and ask for a scan. It is always better to be sure than sorry.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
