Potential sarcoma

Hi

I noticed a hard lump (feels like a testicle is best way to describe it!) in the crease between my groin and thigh. Went doctors end of December, had bloods taken the next day (general liver, kidney, full blood count and CA12). Everything came back clear.
Had planned ultrasound on Sunday, they noticed vascular growth and measured it as 12cm.  Doctor has referred me to hospital to be seen within 2 weeks.
I've got no physical symptoms, and I don't think the lump has grown since I first noticed it 2 months ago (but may have internally).
I thought they may be testing for lymphoma but saw on the letter it was sarcoma. As most people do, I'm driving myself a little crazy whilst waiting for the next appt (especially as sarcoma doesn't appear to have symptoms) and frustratingly I have a one way flight booked at the end of April!
Has anyone had similar? I know it's a matter of waiting, I've just never had a health scare like it and was relieved when bloods came back clear, but that doesn't seem to really mean anything.
Thanks!

  • Hello Arcast and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. You did well to have this hard lump looked at by a doctor and I hope you will find out soon when you have your hospital appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results. At least it's good news that your blood test results came back clear

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be even if it said on the letter they are testing for sarcoma as it could be so many other things. It's easy to drive oneself crazy with waiting and the best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. While you are waiting there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope. End of April is still a long way away and hopefully it will all be sorted and this will only be a minor inconvenience so you can still embark on this one way flight - sounds like a real adventure!

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through something similar before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
