I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis of UC a few months ago. It's understandable that you have questions and may be reluctant to undergo further investigations. Have you discussed your concerns with your Dr? 

I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to your question but you may find it helpful to have a look at some of the information available on the Crohn's and Colitis UK website. They also have a helpline that you can call to chat with someone.
