High faecal calproprectin

Hi everyone

I had a colonoscopy last December and I was diagnosed with ulcerated colitis. I have recently had a faecal calprotectin done and it's come back at 5937. My doctor has rearranged another colonoscopy for me but I am reluctant to go along with this as it's only been a couple of months since my last one. Surely the Faecal calprotectin would be high anyway wouldn't it as my colon is inflamed.

Anyone else experienced this higher number.

  • Hello aw63

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis of UC a few months ago. It's understandable that you have questions and may be reluctant to undergo further investigations. Have you discussed your concerns with your Dr?

I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to your question but you may find it helpful to have a look at some of the information available on the Crohn's and Colitis UK website. They also have a helpline that you can call to chat with someone.

I hope that you find the information and support that you need to move forwards with your diagnosis and improve your health.

    Best wishes,
