Awaiting breast clinic appointment- so worried

Hi everyone

for a few months I've been experiencing a weird sensation in my armpit, that sometimes travels down through my left breast. I visited my GP twice and they have now referred me, however the wait is crippling.

The pain is getting worse, more so when I lift my arm up, but I cannot find any swelling or lumps. My mum suffered breast cancer and didn't have any lumps either, she had a mastectomy and lots of lymph nodes removed.

lately I keep feeling like my nipple is wet/cold. But it isn't. I'm wrecking my brain over it all as I have 3 children (youngest is only 1) it's a tormenting time not knowing isn't it?!

Did anyone experience these symptoms?

many thanks in advance xx

  • Hi! I'm in the same boat waiting for my appointment which is on the 27th

My symptoms are my right breast is getting bigger and I found a lump just above my nipple. I've just recently started getting pains but I can't tell if it's the lump or it's just how heavy my breast is now.

The wait is always the worst part but hopefully it's something that's easy to deal with and not the dreaded C word.

I'm always free if you need to vent or just chat X

  • Hi there

i have my appointment on the 28th February. I have had multiple cysts in my breasts over the years and have visited the breast clinic 5 times in as many years. The last time was back in October where they found a number of small flattened cysts in a 3 cm piece of tissue on the outer portion of my right breast and sent me on my way.

forward to January this year, I found a lump underneath the nipple next to the previous patch of cysts and it was hard. Hey ho I thought and waited to my next period to see if it went. Then last week I checked, and the lump is blooming massive compared to what I have had before. I went to the docs and she said it was a 3 - 4 cm hard craggy lump and referred me. I can literally hold it between my fingers instead of feeling a pea sized lump.

This has sent my mind spiralling, whether or not they missed something before, even to ridiculous thoughts like the hospital has put back a follow up scan on a cyst I have on my ovary (scanned last April) and this breast lump is a secondary cancer and I'm doomed.

My logical brain is telling me to get a grip but my gut feels like I have dodged a bullet so many times and that this time my luck has run out.

I have only told my closest family as I know people would just think it's just another cyst (as those who I have told think the same) but the doctors words and a stupid consultation with dr Google has messed with my head.

it does feel better to get it on paper!!

You're not on your own ... good luck on the 27th :-)
