Swollen Lymph Node

So I'm in my late teens and I have this lump around a pea size on the right side of my neck, I didn't think much of it until it hasn't went away for a few months. It not painful or anything and I can move it around a bit, but I'm still very worried about it. I suspect it's a swollen lymph node but I'm not sure and googling stuff about it isn't helping (i know i shouldn't but worry gets the best of me). I've asked if I can go to doctor but my guardian says it's nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't grow. Obviously that doesn't really help my anxiety, I have went to the doctors for anxiety issues that have affected my physical health in the past (around a year ago) but i'm not sure if this is related to that or not. I really just want advice on what to do.

  • Hello MDW

I'm sorry to hear that you have some concerns about a lump in your neck. It's natural that you may have some anxieties about what has caused this lump and it would be sensible to get this checked by your GP.

You mention that you're in your late teens. If you're 16 or over then you can make a GP appointment without a parent or guardian needing to attend with you. So if this is comfortable that you feel doing then get in touch with the GP surgery.

Alternatively, speak again to your guardian. Let them know how anxious you're feeling about the lump and explain that you'd like their support in talking with your GP about the lump and also about ways that you can manage your anxiety.

I hope that you get the support and reassurance that you need soon.

    Best wishes,
