Total duct excision

Hello,

Im due on the 23rd a total duct excision on both breasts I'm nervous and anxious. Both breast have varying discharge blood , green colour, yellow, brown and clear. And pain in my right breast. They found some funny cells can't remember the name. From a vanity perspective I am worried about how they look afterwards as they are different sizes as it is and the more troublesome one is the smaller. I have 4 children youngest being 2. The reality is I'm terrified.

advice / pearls of wisdom would be appreciated

  • Hello Mumma4

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some problems with your breast health and that you're due to have surgery later next week. it's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about things.

I know we've had quite a few women post about duct excision here on the forum. This thread is the most recently active and you may find you can chat with other women who have had this surgery by posting on that thread. If you'd like to read some of the other posts you can find them by using the forum search function (magnifying glass in the blue bar at the top of the page) to look for the term "duct excision".

If you think it may help to chat through some of your concerns with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope all goes smoothly next week and that your breast health improves.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi my breast ducts we're cleared by having a breast reduction by a  NHS plastics surgeon. l had countless surgeries before without resolving the problem. The nipples were removed and resisted and l have a large v shaped scar under the breast from above they look fine. I'm pleased that l had the surgery as it solved most of my duct problems. They tried to take as many ducts as possible

l hope your surgery goes well

    take care Susie

  • Thank you, I'm hoping it all goes well glad your surgery has resolved most of your duct issues x

  • Hope l haven't said too much!  but lm happy to answer questions if you think of anything
