Swollen painful glands under arms but also neck groin etc

I'm very concerned about my son who for approx the last 12 months has gone down hill with his health. Started with sleeping longer etc and then stomach issues, brain fog, fatigue, heart palpitations and weight loss. Had blood tests at the gp which didn't show much but he was low on b12 and iron. We also cut wheat from his diet as this was upsetting his stomach...he did seem to be making some progress and looks abit better but in the last few weeks he has had painful swollen glands especially under his arms, they are all swollen though and have been for along time (several months). This was dismissed by the practice nurse before Christmas. He went to see the gp last Friday and he has agreed irs a worry and wants to do more blood tests and he is waiting for a referral for a scan...I'm worried sick he has cancer and the wait for a scan or consultant is 18 weeks. Would love to hear people's thoughts on this please.

I'm sorry to read that your son's health has deteriorated quite a bit over the past 12 months, which is understandably causing concern but I'm glad that he saw the GP last Friday.

Hopefully, others who had encountered a similar situation will be along shortly to share their experiences with you and offer advice but until they do try to take your mind off things for a bit, if at all possible. If you find yourself too worried though and feel that talking things over with someone on the phone might help, please remember our lovely team of nurses are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

I understand that the wait for the scan or consultant is long but if you once you know more please come back and keep us updated.

We're keeping everything crossed that there won't be anything sinister with your son and he will soon recover from what is causing all these symptoms.

    Best wishes to you both,
