Lump in throat

Hey guys I was wondering for advice, I went for a mri scan back in October to see if I have FND which it turns out I do, but the neurologist wrote a letter to my gp that swollen lymph nodes have also shown up on my mri scan, they rang me and asked me to come in, they are arranging for me to have an ultrasound scan done on my neck and maybe a biopsy to have done, I've had problems with my throat for a few years now and I've been to the doctors multiple times to be told I had some sort of infection and given antibiotics multiple times, but I can feel the lump in my neck and I'm scared especially since they might do a biopsy, but I'm constantly tired, coughing and had problems with my breathing, the doctors said that was asthma now I'm wondering if it is or not and I have bad night sweats to and random times I feel sick or I am sick, can someone give me advice on what to expect with ultrasound on my neck and if I do need a biopsy what they do I'm so scared. Thank you I appreciate the advice.

  • Hi Ldo,

I'm sorry to hear you have FND and that swollen lymph nodes showed up on your MRI.

I know this must be scary, especially with the symptoms you've been experiencing, but try not to think the worst if you can. Always much easier said than done, but there could be many reasons why your lymph nodes are swollen at the moment and we'll have our fingers crossed the results show it isn't anything sinister.

I've found some general information about a neck ultrasound and biopsy on our website but if you'd like to find out more, do give our cancer nurses a call next week on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about this test.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and advice as well.

    Kind regards,
