Hard lump on neck not visible on ultrasound

Hello I have a lump (about 2cm long). It is very hard on my neck behind my ear. I had an ultrasound today but the lump is not visible on the ultrasound at all.

I was referred for an MRI. The radiologist said nothing about what it could be.

It is not fatty lump does it mean that this is cancer?

  • Hello AgiN

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump and that after having had an ultrasound you're now waiting for further investigations. It's understandable that you may be feeling concerned.

It's not uncommon for someone to have one type of scan but then need another to get further information. It doesn't necessarily mean that the lump you have is cancerous but the important thing to remember is that you're getting this checked and hopefully the team will be bale to give you some reassurance.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the MRI. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
