Looking for a positive outcome

Hi. I had an ultrasound after finding a small pea sized lump in breast. Ultrasound was going well until radiographer saw inflammation. Had to have a fine needle aspiration and no fluid- it's a solid lump. Now have to have core biopsy. Has anyone had a similar experience? What was the outcome. Very anxious about it.

  • Hello Lofty22 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear that an inflammation was spotted during your ultrasound and you had to have a fine needle aspiration and a solid lump was found.

It's normal to be feeling anxious about it and I hope that you will hear from others here who have had a similar experience and that they will share it with you. There is information on our website about the core needle biopsy which I hope you will find useful. I hope it all goes smoothly and that you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. It's normal to be feeling anxious especially during this period of uncertainty and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for news.

Try not to worry too much though if you can and not to anticipate the worst possible outcome as there are so many other things which could explain the inflammation and the lump that was found. If you can, try and avoid looking things up online as this will only exacerbate your anxiety and make you feel more anxious.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern and that you find out very soon what is going on.

    Best wishes,
