After some advice please

Last year I was sent for a colposcopy following my abnormal smear with borderline changes. The doctor told me he wasn't concerned and told me to come back next year (now this year). Since October I have been bleeding every week and I am unbearably tired all the time. I went to the GP who did an internal exam and she sent an urgent referral to gynaecology, I got the appointment a day later for next week. Is this grounds for me to be concerned about the possibility of it now having developed into cervical cancer? Especially given that last time I waited 6 weeks for my appointment and this time it's come back within 24 hours? Sorry if I sound silly, I'm 28 and beside myself with worry!

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling poorly and understandably concerned after receiving an urgent referral to gynaecology but at this point I think you've done everything you can so you might it might be a good idea to try to focus on other things for the timebeing, if possible. If you find yourself too consumed by stress though and feel like a chat with someone over the phone might help, please know that our friendly team of nurses are a phone call away. You can reach them Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this phone number 0808 800 4040.

Last but not least, I hope everything goes well with your appointment next week. If you find a moment, please come back and give us an update aftweards.

    All the best,
