Mri - does a later appointment mean my scans are clear?

Hi all stumbled across this forum whilst looking for guidance.

So I had a ependymoma in my lumbar spine in 2021 had surgery to remove the tumour and have MRIs every 6 months.

I've been having very similar symptoms recently and my neurosurgeon brought my scan forward. I had the MRI yesturday (sunday) and today recieved a online letter on my patient knows best account for appointment with neurosurgeon but it's not till March 20th.... does this mean my scans clear? Surely if there is recurrence I would be seen sooner?

I'm going sick with worry. I cannot do that surgery again . It was horrid !

If anyone can shed any light or have any guidance Id really Appreciate it. Thank you

  • Hi Kat and welcome to Cancer Chat.

Unfortunately no-one here can really say what this means but if you can, try to stay calm and not let your thoughts get the better of you whilst you wait for your appointment. Always easier said than done I know, but I hope some of the tips and advice given in this article will help.

I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their stories and advice with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Kat and wishing you all the best for next month. We'll have our fingers crossed it's good news.

    Kind regards,

  • It does seem a long time to wait for the results but they probably giving appointments so they will definitely have to the results,  as some scans ect seem to take longer to be reported.
I do hope you have your results soon

    take care Susie
