2CM Lump where neck meets shoulder.

HI all,

I've been looking for some information that matches my situation but I think its better if i ask a question.

Around 2 months ago I found a 2cm lump on the LHS of my neck, low down in the curve where  the neck the shouler. Its not circular and more long like a flattened oval. It feels attatched and doesnt hurt. Its somewhere in between soft and hard (I know tha may sound ridiculous)

I went to the doctors yesterday and I have blood tests on Tuesday to look at my white blood cells.

Whilst I was there the GP checked my armpits, groin and stomach and couldnt find anything there.

He talked about symptoms .. I have woken up drenched in sweat but only once, however I do overheat very easily.

I've had headaches for as long as i can remember and I notices when I was walking down the stairs yesterday that my legs felt a bit wobbly.

Has anybody experienced anything like this? He said they are checking for Hodgkins Lymphoma which is a bit of minefield when looking online.

  • Hello CLAMBERT and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

You did well to go to the doctor's to get this lump checked. Best of luck for your blood tests on Tuesday - it's a stressful time as you are waiting to find out what is causing these issues and you did well to mention all your symptoms to your doctor so that they can look into everything properly. There is information on our website about getting diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma which I hope you will find useful and help you understand it a little better as, as you said, it can be a bit of a minefield online.

However, even if they are checking for Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the moment, try not to look too much online if you or it will make you more anxious and try not to anticipate what it might be if you can as there may be so many other things which could be causing these symptoms. The important thing really is that they are being throrough and investigating it properly and it hopefully won't be long now until you get a definite diagnosis. Waiting is the hardest thing though as many of our members will know only too well and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
