A FIT test measures blood in your stool. It can be caused by a whole lot of things, the most common would probably be hemmorhoids and fissures. Then there are polyps, which are also quite common, I believe, and less commonly, there are possibilities like Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, diverculitis or even cancer.

I believe an urgent colonoscopy is usually arranged when somebody gets a FIT result over 10, partly because they want to find out what is causing it and partly because there is something like a 10% chance it could be cancer and obviously, they need to check. It doesn't mean they think cancer or any other serious cause is likely, just that there is only one way to find out.

Well, there have been people who have posted on this site who have had results of 400, 600, 900, so I wouldn't say 98 is particularly high.
